Cochrane RCMP seize drugs and a loaded firearm during traffic stop

On June 16, at approximately 11:30 p.m., a Cochrane RCMP officer conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle for window tint and an aggressive U-turn in the middle of an intersection.

The officer observed open liquor and cannabis within arms-reach of the driver. A search of the vehicle yielded a loaded pistol, bags of what is believed to be cocaine and other drug paraphernalia.

Iain Mcauley, 37, of Calgary, has been charged with several firearm related offences and possession for the purpose of trafficking.  

Mcauley was held for a Judicial Interim Release Hearing and was remanded into custody. His first appearance date has been scheduled for June 25, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Cochrane.
