May 17, 2022, was a cold spring day when two people fishing came upon the body of a small child floating in the frigid waters of the Grand River in Dunnville. Since that day, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigators have combed through missing persons cases, made pleas to the public, utilized Investigative Genetic Genealogy (IGG) and are now releasing a three-dimensional (3-D) facial approximation and new video in hopes of finding the identity of the little girl.
As the second anniversary approaches, the community of Dunnville and OPP investigators remain hopeful.
‘It’s difficult to understand how someone could throw away a child like that,’ says OPP Detective Inspector Shawn Glassford. ‘We are hopeful that the 3D facial approximation will spark someone’s memory and help us identify this little girl. We want to give this child her name back.’
A $50,000 reward is now available for information leading to the girl’s identity. Help the OPP give this child her name back.
