Pincher Creek RCMP charged 34-year-old Jesse Boyd Smith with animal cruelty.
On March 2, Pincher Creek RCMP received a complaint that resulted in an investigation of cruelty to an animal. RCMP say that a complainant saw what he believed to be cruel behaviour while the puppy was being walked and reported it to Pincher Creek RCMP. The next day the Rottweiler and German Shepherd cross puppy was found dead.
After a Judicial Interim Release Hearing, Smith was remanded in custody and appears on March 7 at Alberta Court of Justice in Pincher Creek.
