Kevin Jhoan Botina, 22, of Calgary, is charged with aggravated assault in connection to a stabbing on a crowded CTrain last month.
Calgary Police say that at about 7:15 p.m., on Sunday, Dec. 17, 2023, they were called for reports of a man suffering from what appeared to be stab wounds while on a CTrain in the 500 block of Seventh Avenue S.W.
CPS Investigators believe Botina, who was unknown to the victim, approached a man while aggressively gesturing and threatening the him and then stabbing him. The victim had serious injuries and was taken to hospital in stable condition.
After a month-long investigation, with help from Calgary Transit peace officers, and CCTV images, Botina was arrested Jan. 24.
He appears in court Jan. 31.
