Police say at about 3:42 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 27, a semi tractor-trailer was travelling southbound on Calgary Trail just south of 31 Avenue when a male suddenly ran out into the road in front of the semi. The driver of the tractor-trailer tried to brake but wasn’t able to stop in time and hit the pedestrian.
The 33-year-old male driver of the semi immediately began administering first aid to the pedestrian until EMS arrived. The 25-year-old male was then transported to hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries where he remains in critical condition. The semi driver didn’t report any injuries.
Edmonton Police Southwest Branch patrol responded to the collision between the semi tractor-trailer and a pedestrian. EPS Major Collision Investigations Section (MCIS) continues to investigate.
