A man and woman forced their way into an Aurora motel room at 15145 Street 111 Avenue NW in Edmonton around 7:15 p.m., Jan. 26 and started shooting. Bullets hit a man inside the room. Two more bullets went through the suite and into a home just south of the motel.
The injured man, who is in his 30s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries and remains in stable condition. No other injuries were reported.
Both suspects fled the scene westbound on foot.
“At this time, we do not believe this was a random event,” said Staff Sergeant Ahmed Alkarout with the Edmonton Police Service Investigative Response Team (IRT).
“However, when a shooting takes place in a public space such as a motel, there are always concerns for public safety and we are thankful that citizens in the community were not injured or killed in this incident.”
Police continue to investigate the shooting and are asking anyone with information to contact police at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone.
