On Jan. 13, Wabasca RCMP arrested 29-year-old Dakota Blaine Sawan, 26-year-old Trinity Wayde Yellowknee, and 47-year-old Sheldon Chapman Haggith for trafficking cocaine.
They had executed a search warrant was executed on a home and seized 477.5 grams of suspected cocaine, $6,657 in Canadian currency, various ammunition, and 1,660 of illegal cigarettes.
Sawan, Yellowknee, and Haggith, all residents of Wabasca, have been charged with possession of property obtained by crime, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, and illegal sale of tobacco products.
Sawan and Yellowknee were brought before a Justice of the Peace and released from custody and appear next on Jan. 18, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Wabasca.
Haggith wasn’t located during the search of the residence and is currently wanted on warrant.
“This seizure will have a significant impact on the drug trade in Wabasca and surrounding area,” said Sgt. Amie Blize, Wabasca RCMP Detachment Commander. “RCMP will continue to focus on the removal of illicit drugs from the communities we serve.”
