Durham Police say he may still be offering rides on different apps
Uber driver, 32-year-old Anees Ashraf from Whitby has been charged with two counts of sexual assault.
Durham Regional Police officers from Central West Division responded to a sexual assault call in the area of Taunton Road and Garden Street in Whitby on Dec. 24. The victim was sexually assaulted by a man driving for Uber as she was being taken back to her home.
Ashraf has been released from custody until his next court appearance.
He may be continuing to offer ride sharing services under different transportation apps. Investigators are in contact with these companies, but want to ensure there are no further victims.

Earlier this month, a New Brunswick cab driver was sentenced to three years in prison for raping a woman.
