A B.C. man was arrested after losing it in Eagle Ridge Hospital parking lot on Dec. 11.
Port Moody police say that they got a call just before 9 p.m. that a man was smashing vehicle windows in the hospital parking lot.
He then allegedly threatened a security guard before fleeing from the scene. Minutes later, officers arrested him several blocks away.
When police searched him they found numerous tools and alleged stolen property, including passports. It was learned he had been released with conditions several hours prior for similar alleged offences in another jurisdiction.
34-year-old Nicholas Yachiw was charged with mischief, theft, uttering threats, and fail to comply with a probation order (in relation to break-in instruments). He is currently in custody with a court appearance scheduled for Dec. 15.
“Thanks to the security guard who immediately reported this incident, officers were able to quickly track down and arrest the suspect” said Constable Sam Zacharias.
“Any other witnesses or potential victims are asked to contact us and quote file number 2023-6998.”
