Ottawa Police Service Arson Unit investigators have concluded their investigation into a suspicious fire this morning at the Ottawa Hospital, Civic Campus, located in the 1000 block of Carling Avenue.
A suspect had already been taken into custody by hospital security personnel when emergency services partners responded to the fire at 6:34 am. The fire, in the emergency room area, was extinguished by the fire suppression system. There were no reported injuries.
The Arson Unit charged Jean François Lalonde, 43, of Ottawa with arson endanger life, arson to property, possess incendiary materials and breach of probation.
He appeared in court Dec. 8.
