Winnipeg Police Service’s Major Crimes Unit (MCU) has made two additional arrests in connection with a violent August assault and robbery that left a man in his 30s in critical condition.
The investigation into the incident, which occurred on the evening of August 27, 2025, has now led to charges against four individuals.
According to investigators, the victim was socializing with a group in a parking lot in the 700 block of Maryland Street shortly after 8 p.m. An altercation erupted, during which a handgun was pointed at the man. He was then overpowered by the group and repeatedly stabbed. As the suspects fled the scene, they robbed the injured man of his personal property.
Police response was immediate following several 911 calls. The Tactical Support Team, Air1, and district officers located the victim bleeding profusely. Officers provided emergency medical care on scene before he was transported to hospital in critical condition. He has since been upgraded to stable condition.
An initial search of the area with Air1 and K9 units was unsuccessful in locating the suspects.
The investigation progressed quickly, resulting in the arrests of two individuals the following day, August 28. Everett Vaughn PETERS, 35, and Brittany Michelle FIDDLER, 35, were both charged with Robbery and Aggravated Assault.
The MCU continued its investigation, identifying two further suspects.
On September 5, officers arrested Wesley Samual FRANCOIS, 23, in the 400 block of Agnes Street. Two days later, on September 7, investigators attended the Provincial Remand Centre and arrested Harold William MEEKIS, 40, who was already in custody on an unrelated matter.
Both FRANCOIS and MEEKIS have been charged with Robbery and Aggravated Assault. FRANCOIS was remanded into custody, while MEEKIS remains in custody.
Police confirm that the firearm involved in the incident has not been recovered.
The Major Crimes Unit investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact the MCU at 204-986-6219 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS or online at winnipegcrimestoppers.org.
