On Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at 8:37 p.m., police responded to a call for a Shooting in the Ranee Avenue and Varna Drive area.
It is reported that:
- three suspects approached a group of people
- the suspects produced firearms and shot into the group and then fled the area
- a man, 19, was shot and suffered non-life-threatening injuries
- a second man, 25, was shot and suffered non-life-threatening injuries
- a third man, 18, was shot and suffered non-life-threatening injuries
- a female, 30, was shot and suffered non-life-threatening injuries
- a youth, 17, was shot and suffered non-life-threatening injuries
- a sixth man, 31, was shot and suffered life-threatening injuries, he was pronounced deceased in hospital
The homicide victim has now been identified as Yahya Ahmed-Mohamoud, 31, of Toronto.
