A dramatic late-night incident involving two stolen fire trucks ended with one suspect in custody and another still at large, according to Vulcan RCMP.
At approximately 11:30 p.m. on April 20, police were alerted to a commercial alarm in progress. While responding, an officer observed two Champion Fire Department vehicles travelling at high speeds without activated emergency lights. Given the fire hall’s proximity to the scene, the officer attempted a traffic stop, but the trucks failed to stop.
With the assistance of the RCMP Police Dog Services, one suspect was soon arrested. The second individual has been identified but remains at large. Both fire trucks have since been recovered.
Jaeden Glabb, a 25-year-old resident of Peace River, Alta., was taken into custody. He faces multiple charges, including two counts of break and enter, two counts of possession of property obtained by crime, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from a peace officer, and three counts of breaching a release order.
Glabb appeared before a Justice of the Peace and was remanded into custody. He is scheduled to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Lethbridge on April 25.
RCMP say the investigation remains ongoing.
