The BC RCMP Southeast District Major Crime Unit (SED MCU), the Tk’emlups Rural Detachment and the Kamloops RCMP Detachment, are working together to investigate the discovery of a body in rural Kamloops.

On September 23, 2024, a man was reported missing to Kamloops RCMP and an investigation into his whereabouts was initiated. During the investigation, a body was located and the SED MCU was called in to take conduct of the investigation.

Additionally, on September 23, 2024, at approximately 5:30 am, Logan Lake RCMP were called to the report of a vehicle on fire in the area of Tunkwa Lake Road and Highway 97D in Logan Lake. A subsequent investigation has determined that the vehicle fire is related to the found body and investigators are now asking for the public’s assistance in providing any information and/or video in regards to a blue Dodge Dart seen in the Logan Lake area prior to the vehicle fire.

Determining the manner and cause of death is the top priority for investigators, at this time, says Staff Sergeant Jason Smart, NCO i/c SED MCU, and information surrounding the vehicle fire will assist investigators in that regard. In an effort to protect the integrity of the investigation, police will not be releasing further information about the found body and/or the subsequent SED MCU investigation.

Anyone who may have seen or has video of the blue Dodge Dart, any time on Sunday, September 22, 2024 through to Monday, September 23, 2024, at 5:30 am, is asked to call the BC RCMP SED MCU information line at 1-877-987-8477.
