Five people were arrested in a stolen vehicle. They now face numerous charges including weapons-related offences.
Dallas Goodrunning, 35, of Rocky Mountain House, Chaz Anderson, 30, and Leanne Whitford, 19, both of O’Chiese First Nation, Lakeisha Strawberry, 21, and Courtney Anderson, 38, of Sunchild First Nation have been charged with laundering proceeds of crime, possession of stolen property over $5,000, careless use of a firearm, three counts of possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm, two counts of unauthorized possession of a prohibited/restricted weapon, ammunition and/or device, three counts of unauthorized possession of a weapon in a vehicle, flight from police, two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purposes of trafficking, and Illegal consumption of alcohol in a vehicle.
They were arrested by Parkland County RCMP with help from Enoch RCMP after a stolen vehicle was spotted by police on Hwy 16A west of Stony Plain.
A tire deflation device was used to stop the vehicle. After it struck the device, it traveled another 35 kms before coming to a stop, where the five were arrested without incident.
A search of the vehicle found 118 grams of suspected methamphetamine (estimated value of $7,000), 37 grams of suspected cocaine (estimated value of $3,700), $590 cash, two loaded shot guns, and several other weapons.
Goodrunning has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Stony Plain on Feb. 7.
Whitford has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 21 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Stony Plain.
Chaz Anderson has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 7 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Stony Plain.
Strawberry has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 21 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Stony Plain.
Courtney Anderson has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 7 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Stony Plain.
