Update – The collision between the two semis caused a large fuel spill. Due to the hazardous conditions a precautionary evacuation of the area was completed with the assistance of RCMP and area Fire Services.
Edson RCMP received a report of the collision of the two semis on 50th Avenue in Niton Junction of Yellowhead County at about 7 p.m. on Dec. 19.
They say a semi-truck and trailer collided with a second semi-truck and trailer hauling fuel.
RCMP say there were no injuries in the collision.
Edson RCMP are now clear from the collision.

Two semi-trucks with trailers have collided at the Niton Junction on Highway 16 in Yellowhead County near Edson, Alta. Edson RCMP say it’s a serious collision and is impacting travel on Highway 16.
As a result of the collision there is a localized fuel spill.
The eastbound lanes of Highway 16 are being re-routed at Hwy 32 and Range Road 142 west of Carrot Creek, while the westbound lanes of Highway 16 are being re-routed at Nojack, Hwy 751 and Range Road 114A. This detour is expected for an extended period of time. Motorists are advised to expect delays and abide by the established detours.
