SADDLE LAKE, Alta. – On Sept. 4, Saddle Lake RCMP members conducting proactive patrols observed a vehicle displaying a licence plate that did not match the vehicle. Officers initiated a traffic stop and conducted their investigation. A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of the following items:
- Two .22-calibre firearms;
- Pump-action Winchester shotgun;
- Ammunition;
- 106 grams of suspected cocaine;
- 4 grams of suspected methamphetamine,
- Drug trafficking paraphernalia; and
- Multiple IDs not belonging to the vehicle’s occupants.
As a result of the investigation, three Saddle Lake First Nation residents, Cheyenne Large (36), Corey Cardinal (38) and Tyler Cardinal (34) have been charged with:
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking;
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm;
- Possession of firearm in motor vehicle;
- Illegal possession of government documents; and
- Driving uninsured motor vehicle on highway.

Rowena Shea of the Saddle Lake RCMP Detachment. “Our members are committed to working with community leadership and residents to address local priorities and reduce the harm caused by illegal drugs and unlawfully possessed firearms. Information reported by the public helps police identify concerns, focus enforcement efforts and improve community safety.”
