Calgary Police Service Homicide investigators continue to investigate the death of a man that occurred May 11 in the parking lot of a grocery store in the city’s northeast.
At approximately 7:50 p.m., on May 11, officers responded to reports of shots fired in the parking lot of the North Hill Co-op located at 520 16 Ave. N.E.
Upon police arrival, two men were found suffering from gunshot wounds and transported to hospital. One man was declared deceased and the other remains in hospital in stable condition.

After completion of an autopsy conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner May 12, 2026, the deceased has been identified as 35-year-old Leslie Babajid Cole.
No suspects are in custody at this time, however, investigators believe this shooting was targeted and there is no active risk to the public.
“We believe this shooting is connected to organized crime,” says Staff Sergeant Mike Shute of the Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit. “Gun violence is not tolerated in our city, and no Calgarian should feel unsafe when they are going about their day in their own community. As a Service, we recognize that targeted shootings still have a deep impact on Calgarians, and we have dedicated suppression resources to thoroughly address these acts of violence.”
Calgary police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who may have dashcam or CCTV footage from the area at the time of the shooting to contact police by calling 403-266-1234.
