Sgt. Sarbjit Kaur Sangha’s journey is one of determination, resilience, and service. After immigrating to Canada in 1997 from a small village in Punjab, India, she remained steadfast in pursuing her childhood dream of becoming a police officer. Her inspiration
to become a police officer came from a TV show she used to watch as a little girl. She watched a female police officer put bad guys in jail and protect her vulnerable community. In 2007, that dream became reality when she graduated from Depot and proudly joined the RCMP. She is the first police officer in her family.
With over 19 years of dedicated service, Sgt. Sangha has built an impressive and diverse career spanning frontline policing, Major Crimes, the Drug Unit, the Asset Forfeiture Unit, and the Media Relations Unit. Nearly a decade of her service was spent in the Drug Unit, where she developed deep expertise and firsthand knowledge of the gang landscape across the Lower Mainland and throughout British Columbia. Her experience has positioned her as a trusted and informed voice on organized crime and its impact on our communities.
CFSEU-BC is proud to welcome Sgt. Sangha to the Media Relations Unit. She brings invaluable insight into the complexities of the drug trade, gang activity, and the public safety issues that matter most to the people of British Columbia. Her knowledge, credibility, and commitment strengthen our mission to keep communities safe and informed.
Sgt. Sangha is deeply passionate about raising awareness on drug trafficking, and gang violence. Beyond her professional achievements, she finds joy in hiking, reading, and cherishes time spent with her family. Words she lives by: believe in yourself, don’t let others write your life story, you have everything you need within you, and kindness does not cost anything.
