Suspect in transit bus assault believed to have targeted others, police say
Investigators with the York Regional Police Special Victims Unit are appealing for additional victims to come forward following a sexual assault on a transit bus.
On Tuesday, November 18, 2025, between 6 and 7 p.m., a victim reported she was travelling on a northbound bus from Finch Station to the Richmond Hill terminal. Police said a male suspect sat beside her and touched her in a sexual manner. The victim immediately stood up and confronted the suspect, reported the incident to the bus driver, and the suspect fled.
After fleeing, investigators believe the suspect then travelled to the City of Brampton, where he targeted further victims.
The suspect was identified and arrested on December 18, 2025. Police have charged Saman Salimianrizi, 31, of No Fixed Address, with sexual assault and two counts of breach of probation.
At the time of these offences, Salimianrizi was on probation for similar offences which occurred in both York Region and the City of Toronto.
Investigators are releasing images of the suspect as they believe he may be connected to similar incidents in York and Peel regions.
York Regional Police encourage anyone who feels they may have been a victim to come forward. Anyone with information is asked to contact the York Regional Police Special Victims Unit or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
