Mohd Farhan, 23, and Jagrutiben Bhatt, 44, have been arrested by police after a human trafficking and prostitution ring was busted.
Investigators from the Specialized Enforcement Bureau’s Vice Unit started their complex investigation into the sex trade in the Peel region on Sept. 13, 2023.
Police say Farhan and Bhatt recruited and exploited victims into the sex trade while keeping their earnings from them. Vice investigators conducted a proactive investigation, which resulted in locating victims being trafficked by the accused and co-accused.
Fahran is charged with human trafficking, exercise control, receive benefits from trafficking in persons, procuring, and deriving material benefit from sexual services.
Bhatt is charged with human trafficking, two counts each of exercising control, receiving benefits from trafficking in persons, advertising sexual services, procuring and material benefit from sexual services.
