On April 24, at approximately 7 p.m. two climbers in Shannon Falls Provincial Park located what they believed to be human remains and contacted the Squamish RCMP.
A plan for recovery of the remains from the remote location was completed between Squamish RCMP alongside Squamish SAR on April 25.
“Details of the individual located were prematurely released, but we are continuing to work with the BC Coroners Service to investigate the circumstances leading up to the discovery and the identity of the individual,” said Staff Sergeant Sascha Banks, Sea to Sky RCMP Squamish Detachment Operations Commander. “There is no risk to public safety and there are no indications of foul play.”
There will be no media availability, and no further information will be released by the Squamish RCMP at this time.
