Saskatchewan RCMP’s Lloydminster Saskatchewan Trafficking Response Team (STRT) has charged a wanted male after cocaine, methamphetamine and a firearm with a defaced serial number were seized from a motel room.
On April 17, officers from STRT were conducting proactive patrols in Lloydminster, Sask.
They observed a male known to be on a warrant outside of a motel on 44th Street. They approached him and told him he was under arrest. He fled on foot but was located a short time later. Officers located a small amount of methamphetamine and cocaine during his arrest.
As a result of continued investigation, officers obtained a warrant and searched a room at the motel.
Officers located and seized approximately 28 grams of cocaine, approximately 32 grams of methamphetamine, a firearm with its serial number removed, and ammunition.
As a result of continued investigation, 25-year-old Mackenzie Cannapotatoe from Onion Lake is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine, resist peace officer, seven counts, fail to comply with release order condition, three counts, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and possession of a firearm with altered/defaced/removed serial number, unlicensed possession of a firearm, unlicensed possession of a prohibited weapon with ammunition, and unsafe storage of a firearm.
He was also arrested on outstanding warrants and for breaching a Conditional Sentence Order.
Cannapotatoe was remanded into custody until his scheduled appearance in North Battleford Provincial Court on April 20.
