Winnipeg Police say the remains discovered last year have been identified as Leah Faye Keeper, 32, when she went missing in 2023.
On Nov. 26, 2025 the Winnipeg Police Service reported on the discovery of partial human remains that had been located in a rear lane in the 600 block of Serkirk Avenue. The investigation was considered to be a suspicious death, and the Homicide Unit assumed the investigation.
The partial remains have now been identified through DNA testing as Keeper. Leah was reported missing on Nov. 21, 2023. Leah was born in Little Grand Rapids First Nation, and raised in Sagkeeng First Nation.
The Winnipeg Police Service has notified Leah’s family of this tragic news, and Chief Bowers is in the process of reaching out to community leaders.
