A 31‑year‑old man has been charged after a Counter Exploitation Unit investigation into the online luring and sexual assault of a 14‑year‑old girl.
Police say the investigation began in March 2026 after a report that the youth had been sexually assaulted by a man she met over social media the previous month.
According to investigators, the suspect arranged to meet the girl in person in February 2026. During that meeting, she was provided illicit drugs and sexually assaulted.
On March 22, just after 6 p.m., members of the Counter Exploitation Unit attended an apartment complex in the 500 block of Leila Avenue and arrested a male suspect.
John Dustin Verde Bries, 31, is charged with:
- Sexual assault
- Sexual interference
- Luring a person under 16 by means of telecommunication
- Obtaining sexual services from a person under 18
He remains in custody.
