On December 12, 2025, just after 3 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a disturbance at a residence in the 1300 block of Arlington Street.
North District General Patrol officers arrived on scene and located a male who had succumbed from an apparent gunshot wound.
The Major Crimes Unit has assumed the investigation, and identified the deceased as 37-year-old Caleb Joshua JOHNSTON.
On December 15, 32-year-old Hugh Keith SWITZER was arrested by investigators and charged with second D=2egree Murder, three counts of possession of a firearm restricted/prohibited weapon, firearm part or ammunition, and two counts of possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm.
SWITZER is detained in police custody awaiting further disposition.
