Update Oct. 17: The Burnaby RCMP is sharing messaging on billboards across the province as part of the ongoing efforts to locate 11-year-old Kai Pavlovic.
The billboards are being launched in partnership with MissingKids.ca and will be visible in multiple locations and communities around the Lower Mainland and the province as of October 17, 2025. Each billboard image will feature a photo of Kai and a request to contact Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999 with any information on his whereabouts.

“We want everyone to be on the lookout for Kai. Our investigators are working tirelessly to locate him, and we are asking for the public’s help as part of that ongoing effort,” said Media Relations Officer Corporal Laura Hirst. “The billboards are another method among many which we are using to get the word out about Kai and help move our investigation forward.”
Burnaby RCMP was first contacted about Kai on September 26, 2025, when a well-being check was requested for him. Investigators have spoken with Kai’s family and have reason to believe he is with a caretaker, who police are actively working to identify.
“We are making a direct appeal to that caretaker or anyone who knows them,” said Cpl. Hirst. “If you have Kai in your care, you need to come forward and contact the Burnaby RCMP. We need to confirm Kai’s safety and well-being.”
In addition, Burnaby RCMP is also making a Serbian-language news release available to the public. The release is being shared on the Burnaby RCMP website and also directly distributed to community members.
“Through our investigation, we’ve learned Kai’s family has close connections in the Serbian community,” said Cpl. Hirst. “We want to ensure our message about Kai being missing reaches as many people as possible.”

The Burnaby RCMP is renewing its plea for information and is sharing additional photos and a family statement as part of the ongoing investigation to locate missing 11-year-old Kai Pavlovic.
On Sept. 26, 2025, Burnaby RCMP received a request for a well-being check for Kai. Investigators have spoken with Kai’s family members and have reason to believe Kai is staying with a caretaker who police are actively working to identify.
“We believe there are people who know who this caretaker is, and where they are located, and we are appealing to them to come forward and speak to police,” said Burnaby RCMP Media Relations Officer Cpl. Laura Hirst. “Our number one priority is to find Kai and confirm his safety and well-being.”
Investigators are also hoping to speak to community members who may have had interactions with Kai as part of his daily routine. In particular, we want to speak to any adults or parents whose children have been participating in playdates, sports, and/or extra curricular activities with Kai. We would also like to speak to any operators or instructors from sports or activities which Kai has been involved in.
“Our officers have been working non-stop to locate Kai and are employing a number of techniques to gather information and help move the investigation forward,” said Cpl. Hirst, “The best way for the public to help us is to keep an eye out for Kai and contact us immediately if they have any information on his whereabouts.”
Investigators remain in close communication with members of Kai’s family and his extended family, who wished to share a statement about him with the public:
“Kai is a bright, curious, outgoing and kind little boy who loves to climb trees, build forts and learn to sail. He is a friend to all animals and particularly adores horses, cats and dogs,” the statement read.
“Kai’s family in New Zealand love him dearly, and they are asking anyone with any information on Kai’s location to please immediately contact Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999”
Burnaby RCMP is also sharing additional images of Kai as part of the investigation. He is described as being approximately 5’0”, with a thin build, and brown hair.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Kai Pavlovic is urged to contact the Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999 or their local police.
