The Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes Unit is investigating a homicide that occurred in Yorkton earlier this month, resulting in one man being charged.
On Oct. 7, 2025, at approximately 3:10 p.m., Yorkton RCMP received a report of a deceased male outside a residence on Victoria Avenue. Officers responded immediately and secured the scene.
Given the suspicious nature of the death, the Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes Unit South was called in and took over the investigation.
The deceased has been identified as 51-year-old Curtis Gilman Bourassa of Winnipeg, Man. His family has been notified. The Saskatchewan Coroners Service is also conducting an investigation into the death.
Following a continued investigation, officers arrested an adult male on Oct. 11, 2025.
Henry Wayne Chartrand, 51, of Yorkton, Sask., is now charged with second-degree murder.
Chartrand made his first appearance in Yorkton Provincial Court on Oct. 14.
