Alberta RCMP’s Community Response Team and Evansburg RCMP conducted a traffic stop on Highway 16 near Evansburg which led to drugs being seized and two people arrested.
On Sept. 10, 2025, the Alberta Community Response Team conducted a traffic stop on a Jeep Cherokee for traffic offences. Police identified that the passenger had outstanding warrants out of Edmonton Police Service for possession of stolen property. As a result of what was observed in the vehicle, police entered into a drug investigation and police located and seized the following:
- 11.8 Grams of Cocaine;
- 11.4 Grams of Methamphetamine;
- $1500 Canadian Currency;
- Brass knuckles;
- Bear spray;
- Two scales.
Anthony Carleton, a 35-year-old male resident of Edmonton and Cheyenne Smith, a 29-year-old female resident of Edmonton were jointly charged with:
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking (x2);
- Possession of property obtained by crime; and,
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose (x2).
Anthony Carleton was held for a bail hearing and remanded into custody and is to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Edmonton on Sept. 12, 2025. Cheyenne Smith was held for a bail hearing and released on a release order and is to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Evansburg on Sept. 22, 2025.
