On Aug. 5, 2025, Christian Enang Clyke appeared in Miramichi Provincial Court and was found guilty of second-degree murder in connection with the homicide of a 49-year-old man from Hainesville, N.B.
He is scheduled to return to court on Oct. 28 for sentencing.
On Oct. 6, 2022, at approximately 5:20 p.m., members of the Blackville RCMP detachment responded to a report of an assault at the Atlantic Institution, in Renous. A 49-year-old man who was an inmate at the facility was located badly injured in his cell. He was transported to the hospital with what were believed to be life-threatening injuries, where he later died. The inmate was later identified as Richard King.
Later the same day, a 31-year-old man, who was also an inmate at the Atlantic Institution at the time, was arrested.
Through the investigation, police determined the death of Richard King was the result of a homicide.
On May 15, 2023, a charge of second-degree murder was laid against 31-year-old Christian Enang Clyke, in Miramichi Provincial Court.
