Excessive speeding is not only dangerous, it can make you miss crucial information- such as the police car with flashing lights at the side of the road.
On April 13, 2025, a BC Highway Patrol officer was stopped with another vehicle at the side of Highway #17 at 36 Avenue, Delta, when a vehicle passed by the police car at ridiculous
speed.
The BC Highway Patrol officer captured a laser reading of 191 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.
“The police officer knew the driver would soon got stuck in the same city traffic as everyone else, and was able to pull the driver over,
” says Corporal Michael McLaughlin with BC Highway Patrol. “Excessive speeding is not only dangerous, but it often does not get you to where you’re going any faster. That’s before you even consider the $483 ticket and losing your vehicle.
“
The driver was a 20-year-old Brampton, Ontario man who was driving a Tesla owned by a Surrey man. The Tesla was towed and impounded for seven days at the cost of the owner.
