A Toronto man with prior convictions for possessing thousands of child sexual abuse images has been sentenced to two years in prison, designated a long-term offender, and put on the Sex Offender Information Registration Act for life.
Jason Green, 44, admitted to two counts each of possessing and accessing child pornography, breaching probation and a release order.
The majority of the child pornography in Green’s home was described as being “hardcore in nature”. It involved mostly male children under the age of 12 years. The running time of all of the unique child pornography videos in his collection was at least 123 hours in length. There were 2,662 unique child pornography videos in total. His laptop contained 953 unique images.
On Sept. 3, 2024, the Crown applied to have Green declared a long-term offender to detain him in a penitentiary for a determinate period of incarceration, followed by a long-term supervision order. The hearing was held on Sept. 13, 2024, and took place over four days, concluding with counsels’ submissions on Feb. 28, 2025.
