On March 31, 2025, Piikani Nation RCMP executed a search warrant at a residence on 20 Street in Brocket, Alta.
As a result of the search, RCMP seized the following:
- Illicit drugs
- Prescription medication
- Scales with drug residue, and other indicia of drug trafficking
- $1620 CAD
- Numerous edged weapons including a prohibited butterfly knife
- Two replica firearms
- Two rifle magazines, including one that is capable of holding 30 rounds (prohibited device).
A 36-year-old male and a female youth, both residents of Brocket, were arrested in the residence. The female was released without charges, while the male was charged with the following:
- S. 4(1) CDSA – Possession of a Controlled Substance
- S. 7.1(2)(a) CDSA – Possession of Items used in the Trafficking of a Controlled Substance
- S. 354(1)(a) CC – Possession of Proceeds of Crime
- S. 88(1) CC – Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
- S. 91(2) CC – Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Device
The male, who police say can’t be named as the charges have yet to be sworn, was released from custody to appear in Alberta Court of Justice on May 29, 2025.
