A 25-year-old Red Pheasant Cree Nation resident, Blaisen Nicotine, has been charged with sexual assault and sexual interference at a school on Red Pheasant Cree Nation.
On Feb. 12, 2025, the Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit received a referral from the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) regarding videos that met the definition of child pornography being sold on a social media platform.
An investigation began immediately – led by ICE and the North Battleford General Investigation Section (GIS) of the RCMP. As a result, a suspect was identified and on Feb. 20, 2025, the RCMP’s North Battleford Crime Reduction Team arrested an adult male at a residence on Red Pheasant Cree Nation (approximately 33 kms south of North Battleford).
Nicotine is charged with sexual assault, sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching, indecent act, making child pornography, distributing child pornography, and possessing child pornography.
He first appeared in court on Feb. 21, 2025. He will make his next appearance in North Battleford Provincial Court on March 7.
At this time, investigation has determined there to be one victim. Their identity is known and Victim Services and other supports are being provided to them. The investigation remains ongoing – including identifying whether there are any additional victims.
The interaction between the accused and the victim took place at the school on Red Pheasant Cree Nation. The accused was enrolled at adult education courses through the school.
RCMP say they are being conservative in what information they’re releasing to ensure they’re maintaining the privacy of the victim.
A publication ban has been ordered by the courts. If officers determine there may be other victims, necessary steps will be taken to identify and notify the guardians of those individuals – this may include the release of additional information to the public to help further the investigation.
