The Ottawa Police Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Unit has charged a man following an investigation into sexual assaults that occurred at an Ottawa synagogue in 2022. The incident involves a female victim under the age of 14.
Today, Aklilu AFOWERK, 62 years old from Ottawa, was charged with sexual assault, sexual interference, and breach of an order from sexual offence conviction.
AFOWERK was a volunteer at the synagogue and has previously worked as a property manager, where he was charged with sexual assault against another person under 18.
The Ottawa Police is releasing AFOWERK’s photo, as investigators believe there could be other victims.
