West Vancouver Police Officers responding to a 911 call about a deceased person and IHIT investigating it as a homicide.
In the early hours of December 13th, 2024, the West Vancouver Police were dispatched to check the well-being of a 911 caller in the Ambleside District. Officers located a deceased person in an apartment, and the initial investigation resulted in the arrest of a person present at the scene.
“We want to assure the public that there is no ongoing risk to their safety”, said WVPD spokesperson Sgt. Chris Bigland. “At this time, the investigation is in the evidence gathering phase and it is believed to be an isolated incident. We urge anyone with information or that was in the area of the 1400 block of Esquimalt Avenue around 1:00 AM to contact IHIT at 1-877-551-4448 and ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca”.
IHIT has taken over the investigation and are working closely with members of the West Vancouver Police Department.
