John Christopher Arrizza, 24, is on trial in Calgary Court of King’s Bench for second-degree murder in the stabbing death of 26-year-old Ethan Enns-Goneau but claims he was attacked first.

Arrizza is accused of repeatedly stabbing Enns-Goneau inside the Dancing Sasquatch on Banff Avenue.

The jury heard that he told police that he was scared when “someone started grabbing me and pushing me up against the wall in the bathroom and I’m there alone.”

He said he pulled out a knife but didn’t intend to use it.

Video from the club played in court shows Enns-Goneau going to the bathroom area after he and a friend arrived at the bar. About a minute later he was shoved into the hallway and stabbed by Arrizza.
