Smithers RCMP charge man with 2023 homicide
The North District RCMP Major Crime Unit arrested one individual related to a homicide which occurred in September of 2023.
On September 6, 2024, Sylvester Gordon Joseph of Smithers was charged with second-degree murder, and a warrant for his arrest was issued as a result.
In the evening hours of Friday, September 8, 2023, Smithers RCMP received a 9-1-1 call reporting a male had been shot in a vehicle outside a residence in Smithers. Police responded and located the victim at the hospital who later succumbed to his injuries.
