Update July 17, 2024: An autopsy completed earlier today, Wednesday, July 17, 2024, by The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner identified the man as 24-year-old Abdoul Madiou BALDE. His death has been deemed a homicide.
Homicide investigators are on scene of a suspicious death in southeast Calgary and are asking anyone with information to contact police.
This is Calgary’s ninth homicide of 2024.

Around 4:15 p.m., today, Sunday, July 14, 2024, police were called to the 2200 block of 42 Street S.E., for reports that a seriously-injured man had been discovered in an alley. EMS arrived and confirmed the man to be deceased.
An autopsy will be scheduled for early this week to determine cause of death. Officers remain on scene to gather CCTV evidence and speak to any potential witnesses. A suspect description is not yet available.
