Red Deer RCMP charge Aaron Verner Saville with attempted child abduction

On July 6, at approximately 7:50 p.m., your Red Deer RCMP responded to a report of an attempted child abduction in the Oriole Park area of the city. This incident involved a male suspect who approached a youth under the pretence of searching for a lost cat.

The suspect offered the child money to assist in the search and attempted to lure the child away. Witnesses reported seeing the suspect’s vehicle circling the area multiple times prior to the incident. A concerned citizen observed the suspicious behaviour, became alarmed, and intervened. When confronted, the suspect provided false information and fled the scene.
