A man and woman were arrested after police raided a Red Deer home and seized prohibited weapons and drugs. Among the recovered items were a significant quantity of cannabis products, firearms, ammunition, body armour and a collection of valuable hockey card collectibles.
“This seizure exemplifies our dedication to protecting the residents of Red Deer. We remain steadfast in our efforts to combat criminal activity and to maintain a safe and secure community,” said Sgt. Daisley of Red Deer RCMP CRT.

Matthew Stewart and Tia Cobbe, both 38, and both of Red Deer, were arrested.
Stewart was charged with Trafficking in property obtained by crime over $5,000, unsafe storage of firearms, unauthorized possession of a firearm, two counts of Possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm, two counts of possession of weapon obtained by crime, possession of a firearm when knowing possession is unauthorized, two counts of weapons possession contrary to order, possess body armour without a valid permit, six counts of possession of property obtained by crime less than $5,000, three counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possess break-in instruments, and possession of methamphetamine.
Cobbe was charged with unsafe storage of firearms, three counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm, two counts of possession of firearm without licence/registrations, two counts of possession of weapon obtain by crime, possess body armour without a valid permit, five counts of possession of property obtained by crime less than $5,000, two counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and possession of methamphetamine.
On July 3, 2024, officers from Red Deer RCMP Crime Reduction Team (CRT), with assistance from Red Deer RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS), Police Dog Services (PDS) and Wetaskiwin RCMP, had executed a search warrant at a home in the South Hill area of Red Deer. This operation led to the recovery of multiple items believed to be obtained through criminal activity.
Both were was taken before a Justice of the Peace and remanded into custody. Matthew is scheduled to appear in court on July 30, 2024, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer. Cobbe is scheduled to appear in court on July 12, 2024, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer.
