A Wetaskiwin man convicted of drug trafficking and weapons offences had his sentence reduced by the Alberta Court of Appeal on March 12. The appeal was heard in February.
The Alberta Court of Appeal reduced Marwan Sami Tabet’s 5.5-year prison sentence to four years. He was also given 365 days off his sentence for pre-sentence custody.
After Tabet had previously pled guilty, the trial judge sentenced him to 5.5 years in prison even though the Crown had proposed a four-year prison sentence.
