On March 18 while following up on a theft of a motorcycle, Piikani RCMP located a blue GMC pickup truck at a home near Brocket that had previously been involved in a flight from police in Fort Macleod on March 12.
A search warrant was conducted at the residence that resulted in the seizure of 7 rifles, ammunition and miscellaneous firearms parts.
Jessie Flett, 37, was charged with 23 criminal offences, including 7 counts of unlawful possession of a firearm, 7 counts of unsafe storage of a firearm, 8 counts of possession of firearm when banned, and possession of stolen property under $5,000.
Flett was also charged under the Traffic Safety Act with being the registered owner of a vehicle involved in dangerous driving and failure to stop for police, as well as entering land without permission under the Petty Trespass Act.
After a Judicial Interim Release Hearing, Flett was remanded into custody. His next court appearance is on March 28 at Alberta Court of Justice in Pincher Creek.
