Wetaskiwin RCMP Crime reduction Unit seize stolen firearm during traffic stop

On Feb. 7, Members of RCMP’s Wetaskiwin Crime Reduction Unit were conducting proactive patrols in Wetaskiwin and stopped a Mazda 3 for a violation of the vehicle equipment regulation.

During the traffic stop, officers observed open alcohol in the vehicle. Upon further search, police located a stolen KSG Shotgun with ammunition in the back seat as well as small amount of suspected Methamphetamine. The occupants were arrested.

RCMP have charged Wetaskiwin residents Casey Okeymow, 23, and Jake Ernest Green, 39, with four weapons offences, possession of stolen property under $5,000, fail to comply with release conditions, and possession of firearm contrary to order.

Okeymow and Green were remanded into custody with their next court date set for Feb. 27 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Wetaskiwin.

Police also charged resident Alison Nepoos, 38, from Maskwacis with four weapons offences, possession of stolen property under $5,000.

Nepoose was taken before a justice of the peace and released from custody with her next court date set for Feb. 27, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Wetaskiwin.
