A 46-year-old Magrath, Alta., man has died in an avalanche in the back country between Carbondale and Castle Mountain Ski Resort.
Crowsnest Pass and Pincher Creek RCMP say that at about 1 p.m., two adults and two children had been snowmobiling when an avalanche occurred. One of the men was able to escape with both children, but the second man was buried in the snow.
On Feb. 25, at 1:22 p.m., Pincher Creek RCMP with the assistance of Southwestern Alberta Regional Search Rescue (SAR SAR), K9 and handler from Fernie Search and Rescue and Alberta Conservation recovered and retrieved the body of the missing man.
His body has been taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
