Steven Squires, 45, of Cumberland has been charged with first-degree murder in the hit and run death of cyclist Rod Kelly on Feb. 8.
Kelly’s body was found by a passerby who reported at about 10:56 p.m. that an injured cyclist on the Comox Valley Parkway near Minto Road in Courtenay.
Emergency Health Services paramedics and Cumberland Fire Department firefighters attended and provided emergency first aid to Kelly but he died.
Squires is also charged with failing to stop after an accident causing death. He remains in custody.
