RCMP are investigating a suspected arson of a home on Sinclair Street in Moose Lake on Jan. 1.
Moose Lake RCMP responded around 7:40 a.m. New Year’s Day. They ensured nearby residences had been evacuated. Before the fire could be extinguished, five trailers were destroyed and a sixth damaged.
There were no injuries were reported.


Moose Lake RCMP continue to investigate.

In another house fire in Manitoba on Jan. 1, a deceased person was found in the ashes on Jan. 2.
The house, on Barren Lands First Nation was fully engulfed in flames when fire trucks arrived on scene.
Several people were inside the home at the time of the fire. It was determined that one adult who was in the residence at the time of the fire was unaccounted for. All the others made it out safely.
The home was completely destroyed. The Office of the Fire Commissioner was notified.
The MKO Crisis Response Team has been notified and will be attending the community to assist and support all those involved.
Thompson RCMP along with the Office of the Fire Commissioner and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, continue to investigate.
