A man has died after being shot following a verbal argument at the Sunchild First Nation Gas Station Sunday morning.
Rocky Mountain House RCMP say they got a report of a shooting at the Sunchild First Nation Gas Station at about 8:23 a.m. on Dec. 3. When they arrived, emergency crews tended to the male victimbut he died as a result of his injuries.
The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit has been called in and taken over the investigation. The initial police investigation indicates that while at the gas bar, the victim and a suspect got into a verbal altercation that resulted in the suspect shooting the victim.
RCMP say that although it’s early in the investigation, it appears that the shooting was the result of an altercation and a sudden escalation. At this time, the RCMP have been unable to discern a link between the victim or any potential suspects. They would like to assure the public that they are taking this investigation very seriously and have deployed additional officers to both efficiently investigate this crime and increase our visibility in the community to deter future incidents.
RCMP released a photo of the suspect vehicle in hopes that members of the public can assist in identifying any potential suspects and locate the vehicle. The vehicle is described as a Black Jeep Grande Cherokee.
