Edson RCMP seized rifles, a handgun and drugs after getting a call around 1 a.m. on Nov. 13 from a community member reporting a suspicious truck on 10th Avenue in Edson.
The called believed there were firearms in the truck. RCMP officers were dispatched right away and located the vehicle with two occupants, a man and woman.
In the truck, the investigators found multiple rifles, a handgun and over 1000 rounds of ammunition. Further investigation revealed the truck had been stolen from Morinville, Alta., the day before. The male was also found in possession of illegal drugs believed to be amphetamines. Both suspects were arrested and taken to the Edson Detachment.
Caleb Telford Howson, 29, from Edmonton, was charged with 25 offences including possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of a prohibited firearm and possession of a controlled substance.
Sierra Diamond Ray Casselman, 26, a resident of Edmonton, was charged with 21 offences including possession of a stolen vehicle and possession of a prohibited firearm.
Both accused were held for a bail hearing. Howson did not speak to bail and remained in custody. He is scheduled to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Edson on Nov. 21.
Casselman was released by the justice of the peace and is scheduled to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Edson on Dec. 5th, 2023.
