A year-long investigation by the Victoria Police Department’s General Investigative Services (GIS) has culminated in charges against four individuals, including the seizure of a cache of firearms, ammunition, drugs, and ballistic armour.
On June 25, 2024, a suspect was arrested in Langford’s West Shore area following a covert drug trafficking probe. The operation led to the confiscation of 20 firearms, over 20,000 rounds of ammunition, $27,000 in cash, 4.5 kilograms of cocaine, and two sets of ballistic armour.

On June 11, Kelt Hayme, Lain Babin, Sarah Bonin and Abigail Lopez were charged.
Kelt Haymes: Possession of a prohibited/restricted firearm with ammunition, two counts of careless firearm storage, unauthorized possession of a prohibited device, and possession of cocaine for trafficking.
Lain Babin: Two counts of cocaine trafficking and one count of possession for trafficking.
Sarah Bonin: One count of cocaine trafficking.
Abigail Lopez: One count of possession of cocaine for trafficking.
The investigation began in early June 2024, targeting a suspected drug trafficker. A search warrant was executed at a residence in the 800-block of Pintail Place in Langford, with assistance from the West Shore RCMP Emergency Response Team, the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team, and VicPD’s Strike Force. The search uncovered the firearms, cocaine, ammunition, and cash, ultimately leading to charges against all four accused.
VicPD Chief Del Manak praised the collaborative effort, stating, “This investigation highlights the dedication of our officers and staff. Their work has removed dangerous weapons and drugs from our community.”
